TUNE OUT TIME: Magic Gel Eye Mask

I got these new eye masks for our day spa, THERAPY BY THE SEA. My husband, of course, wanted to try them out.

Heated and cool eye masks are great ways to help with eye pain, headaches and migraines, swelling and puffiness around the eyes, as well as dry eye syndrome. Both moist and dry application can be used with eye masks. For our dry heated or cool masks we have, up until now, mostly used flax seed masks. We thought we would try out these gel masks.

I think they will make a great addition for clients who prefer a dry mask.

You don't want to microwave these. Just dip them in hot water for a few minutes, dry off and insert them in the cover. The cover has an insulated liner that helps hold the temperature. Because it is a metallic liner in the cover it will carry the heat plenty, so this is another reason not to get the gel mask too hot. It is recommended they can be used for at least 10 minutes when hot. That because that is really about as long as the hot temperature holds.

They can be used cold as well. You will need to freeze them at 30 minutes, or cool them in the refrigerator at least an hour, to get them cold to enough to last longer. The cool temperature, when cooled enough, seems to last up to 30-40 minutes.

The mask has an adjustable strap that can help it fit almost any sized head. It does work better at staying snug on the eyes when used with the strap, even if set at the largest setting. I have debated if they might even be good as sleep masks. I haven't tried them that way as yet.
